Description
Beth Purdy recommended for both Oils and Acrylic! Offering superior quality at a single price point, Simply Simmons by Daler-Rowney is made for the student and professional alike. with excellent performance, dependability and value. Simply Simmons are constructed with artist quality dark tipped synthetic filaments and can be used with all mediums. ROUNDS - These brushes are great for small details or filling in large areas depending on how much pressure you apply and the brush size. Larger round brushes (higher numbers) can hold quite a bit of water in the belly of the brush but still end in a fine tapered point. This allows for a variety of strokes and the ability to move from large coverage to tight detail without having to dip back into the paint often. They’re perfect for detail work and thicker strokes. FILBERTS - A Filbert is a flat brush with the hair rounded into an oval at the tip. It is probably the most versatile of the brush shapes and a staple of oil and acrylic painting. The main brush stroke produced is broad but with a soft, subtle top line allowing marks to instantly blend with previously laid down marks. Turned on its side, it can produce a thin line or, when swivelled in mid stroke, gives a tapered line. Its versatility makes it a very popular shape and most artists working in oil or acrylic will certainly have a number of filberts – if not just the one essential one – in their brush collection. SPOTTER - A round where the hair has been clamped in the ferrule around the belly of the brush head to shorten the hair for a more controllable mark due to its flexibility being limited. Excellent control for fine detail work, this feature makes them very useful to botanical artists. OVAL - An oval paintbrush is a superior tool to use when covering large areas with color due to its color-holding capabilities. An oval brush is great for floral designs, landscapes, skyscapes, and the sea. They are perfect for blends, washes and fades.
